septemberbride : the preparation

Tuesday:

We arrived to the venue on Tuesday 12th September & were greeted with gale force winds, however there was no time to delay we had to get the almost 4000 flowers off the truck & safely into the garage, which was going to double as our workshop for the next 4 days.

The winds continued to be a huge issue throughout the day for all onsite as the marquee definitely couldn’t get started! {Remember I said the wedding was happening in a marquee in Donegal overlooking the Atlantic???}

Wednesday:

While the marquee crew worked away in the wonderful sunshine the VOW team were hiding away in our garage/workshop completing the pieces Karen had designed & already begun working on. These were to be at the base of every table centre.

We also had to complete the 10 arrangements which were to be placed in the windows in the church, which thankfully Karen had already visited & measured. {Preparation for a wedding like this is essential}

Thursday:

Next was the task of beginning the 62 individual design pieces which were to be placed under each candle on the crystal candelabras. When you’re working with a number as high as 62 the task seems never-ending {we were up until 3am tirelessly working to get these finished}

Friday:

Fridays’ tasks were:
1} Finish the 62 design pieces & place them on the candelabras {which didn’t arrive until the afternoon, leaving the garage overflowing with balls of blooms}

2} Embellish the purple wicker dresses we had purchased & place them in the purple-themed jazz lounge

3} Finish the church to 75%, including the ruscus leaves & roses on the pew ends & church pillars.

Saturday:

The morning of the wedding was finally here {& we couldn’t believe it}. This mornings’ tasks involved the finishing touches to a wedding we’d been working on for almost a year. We had to:

1}complete the phalaenopsis & rose arch for the church & another for the entrance to the hotel.

2}ensure the bouquets were delivered to the bride & bridesmaids & that all the groomsmen had their buttonholes on {& on the right way around!}

3}& finally complete the flowerbed design that Karen had designed for the walkway into the drinks reception.
Karen had also been asked to go & see Septemberbride at her parents’ house & help to tie the bow on the dress.

With all that complete it was time to tidy up our garage/workshop & act as though we’d never even been there {apart from the legacy of flowers left behind us in the marquee!}

We will show you some of the finer details of Septemberbride 's wedding very soon ...

enjoy
