Questions to ask

 We know that marquee wedding season is almost over as the autumn & winter set in. Over the summer we have been involved with a number of marquee weddings & have come up with the list of essentials to ask if you are considering a marquee wedding.

These questions are not just for your marquee supplier but are questions that need to be asked of many suppliers, they deal with issues that generally don’t arise in typical wedding venues.

So here goes...

What type of scaffolding do I need to rest the marquee on?

What height is the ceiling?

What height are the centrepieces I would like to use? {Believe it or not this is crucial, often times a high centrepiece & low ceiling mean that candles cannot be lit for dinner!}

Is a heating system supplied with the marquee?

How is the marquee lined?

Is the marquee solid sided or soft-sided?

Do I need to supply a generator or can it be supplied by the marquee company?

What size dancefloor should I have for my guest numbers?

How many days before my wedding do I need to have the marquee site ready? { This is a very important question to ask the marquee company, especially if you are hiring a marquee venue, rather than using your own land}

Is a carpet supplied with the marquee? If so what colour will be supplied?

Does the marquee company provide a stage within the marquee? If so what size is required?{ask your band how much space they will need}

Does a kitchen marquee need to be supplied? If so, is the cost of the equipment included?

What type of toilets are available?

the last piece of advice we can give is... try before you buy... get scale drawings drawn up to accommodate the number of guests, the space & the size of tables you are working with. Also try to go & visit a marquee very similar to the one you will be having, take a good look around & write a list of issues/concerns to address with the supplier {if any!}.

best of luck with your planning
